India Rejects Neocon Push to Get Involved in Ukraine

Russian Ambassador to India Denis Alipov announced on February 10, 2023 that India is maintaining a policy of non-interference with regards to the Russo-Ukrainian conflict,
During an appearance on the Rossiya-24 TV channel, Alipov said, “It (India’s policy), with regards to the current conflict in Ukraine, represents non-interference in this process.”
Alipov stressed that Indian authorities grasped what sparked the geopolitical crisis in Ukraine and “finds the actions taken by Western countries in support for Ukraine unacceptable, for instance, flooding it with weapons.”
In an interview with Austria’s Die Presse, in which Indian ANI news agency published excerpts from, Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar said that India has no intention of breaking ties with Russia. He called attention to how Russia has been supporting India with military aid over multiple decades of non-alignment. By contrast, the US has supplied military aid to India’s primary geopolitical rival in Pakistan in this timeframe.
India and Russia have had strong relations dating back to the Soviet times. To this day, India is the largest purchaser of Russian arms. In the period of 2018 to 2021, India spent $12.4 billion on weapons systems, with Russian imports constituting $5.51 billion of those imports.
As an independent nuclear power that follows a realist foreign policy, India has no time for the West’s hand-wringing about Russia. It’s ultimately going to pursue its national interest with regards to Russia, a country that has been a reliable partner for it in the last few decades. This obviously angers the American national security state, which wants to drive a wedge between Russia and India. At this juncture, if India doesn’t kowtow to the US, it would not be surprising if a color revolution movement is in store for India.
