US House Passes Monstrosity of a “Defense” Budget

On December 8, 2022, the United States House passed a monstrous defense authorization bill. Now, this bill, totaled at $847 billion, is heading to the US Senate where it will be voted on before the end of 2022 — its legislative deadline.

The bill was passed by a resoundingly bipartisan vote of 350-80.

Tyler Durden of ZeroHedge, noted that the bill features a provision that provides a “4.6% pay raise for both military members and the DoD’s civilian workers.”

Some of the most prominent features of the bill includes an amendment that provides $10 billion in military aid to Taiwan that will be sent out over five years. This aid falls under the category of Foreign Military Financing, a State Department program that grants foreign governments funds to by US-manufactured military equipment.

On top of that, the NDAA features $800 million for the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative, a program that grants the US government the power to buy weapons for Ukraine.

The NDAA also features $11.5 billion in funds for the Pacific Deterrence Initiative, a program to beef up the US’s military presence in the Indo-Pacific region. This is part of the US’s new Pivot to Asia strategy, where it will be working to contain the rise of China. The East Asian nuclear power is viewed as the US’s #1 geopolitical rival by the Pentagon and other members of the highest echelons of the US security establishment.

No matter who is in power, the military industrial complex always wins. If we lived in a serious polity, all defense spending would be dedicated towards shoring up our southern border and making sure that Western Hemisphere remains a prosperous and secure backyard for the US and its neighbors. Drug traffickers, human smugglers, and criminal syndicates are doing a major number on the US and that’s the result of a political class that has ignored our southern border and has obsessed over the affairs of countries thousands of miles away.

Any security functions that go beyond that, only serve the interests of ethnic grievance lobbies and the military-industrial complex.
