Denmark Rolls Out Mandatory Military Service for Women

Denmark now has plans of introducing mandatory military conscription for women in an effort to sharply increase the size of its armed forces.

Jakob Ellemann-Jensen, Denmark’s defense minister and deputy prime minister, announced his government’s plan to introduce women’s conscription during an interview with Danish television channel TV2.

He put emphasis on the fact that Danish armed forces cannot defend Denmark and the nation will need to start boosting its troop size.

“If we are to be able to strengthen our defense, we must have a basis from which to strengthen it. In public and private companies, you can grab employees from other places, but you can’t do that in the defense,” Ellemann-Jensen stated. “In the future, women must be called up for military service in the same way as men.”

When he was asked whether conscription should equally apply to both sexes, Ellemann-Jensen emphasized that “the armed forces benefit from more women coming.”

According to a Bloomberg report, these changes in Denmark’s conscription plans come at a time when it and other NATO member states have dialed up their support to Ukraine.

Back in December, Denmark donated 300 million Danish crowns, which is roughly $42.8 million USD,  in military aid to Ukraine. In addition, Denmark recently sent 19 French-produced Caesar howitzer artillery systems.

“Currently, women can join on a voluntary basis while men generally are required to serve if they are called on under a lottery system, for a duration of four months for most,” Bloomberg said about Denmark’s military policies regarding women.

There are already increasing numbers of women joining the Danish military.

“The new measure has the backing of several women’s organizations and comes as Denmark, like the rest of Europe, provides increasing levels of support to Ukraine in the war to oust Russia from the country,” the report continued.

Making joining the military compulsory for women will do nothing to promote national security and only appeases social engineers. Women should be acquiring relevant job skills and working to be homemakers instead. This move by Denmark is just the latest step by the government to re-engineer sexual roles and promote more never-ending wars.
