The City of Richmond Takes Down Its Last Confederate Monument

On December 12, 2022, workers in Richmond, Virginia took down the last Confederate statue the city owned. 

As Axios reported, this move represents the conclusion of a two-year long effort to remove Confederate memorials. Richmond was the capital of the Confederacy. 

The statue in question was that of Confederate General Ambrose Powell Hill (1825-1865). For some time, city and state officials have opposed efforts to remove the Confederate monument. 

After the death of George Floyd in the summer of 2020, most of Richmond’s Confederate memorials were taken down. However, Hill’s statue was not taken down immediately due to his body being buried underneath the statue. 

Efforts to remove figures of the Confederacy are just the first steps the cultural Left is using to wipe out American history altogether. These people hate the Historic American Nation and all of its icons — who are overwhelmingly white European. For that reason, they want to take down this history and replace it with multicultural figures ranging from Martin Luther King to Barack Obama.   

When one monument is removed and is replaced by another, it represents a conquest of sorts by hostile actors who want to subjugate and ultimately exterminate the preceding civilization. Those are the stakes in the existential battle we’re in with the cultural Left. The quicker the Right recognizes this, the easier it will be to thoroughly trounce the Left.
