POLL: Half of Americans Believe the US Should Urge Ukraine to To Hammer Out Peace Deal With Russia

According to a recent poll conducted by Ipsos, nearly half of Americans believe that Ukraine should try to pursue a peace deal with Russia.

The Ipsos poll that was released on December 5, 2022 demonstrated that 47% of Americans believe that the authorities in Ukraine should be compelled to sign a peace agreement with Russia as soon as possible.

In this same poll, 48% of Americans expressed the view that the US government should back Ukraine “for as long as it takes,” irrespective of the deleterious consequences of continuing this proxy war against Russia.

One of the key findings that this poll uncovered was how Americans who were calling on the US to pressure Ukraine to hold peace talks with Russia were partly worried about the costs the Russo-Ukrainian conflict has brought about for many American households — who are currently suffering from higher energy prices. This trend has reached even more alarming levels across the pond in Europe, which is witnessing an unprecedented energy crisis that could lead to one of the largest reductions in living standards in decades.

Unfortunately, America’s elites have grown more aloof and brazen in their contempt for the interests of the American people. Both parties, with the rare exception of America First nationalists in the GOP, are committed to perpetual conflict abroad as evidenced by the overwhelming, bipartisan support for military aid to Ukraine.

These people will not be persuaded into embracing realism and non-interventionism. Proponents of never-ending wars in Congress must ultimately be relieved of the burden of holding higher office for any real political change to take place.

That’s the only way out of this mess.
