Members Of Congress Push for Data on The Biden Regime’s Withdrawal From Afghanistan

Republican members of the United States House Committee on Oversight and Accountability have begun an investigation of the Biden regime’s actions connected to the withdrawal of US military units from Afghanistan. The committee members have called on several agencies to provide data about the withdrawal, per a statement that the committee published on its website on February 17, 2023.

The Republicans sent out “letters calling for documents, communications, and information related to the botched Afghanistan withdrawal, evacuation, and vetting and screening of Afghans relocating to the US,” the statement noted. The White House National Security Council, the Department of State, the Pentagon, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Department of Homeland Security and the US Agency for International Development were the recipients of these letters.

The committee declared that the Biden regime’s decisions created a “national security and humanitarian catastrophe”. The Republicans claimed that the Taliban got their hands on US military equipment that was left back in Afghanistan.

Previously, several other Republican elected officials have called for more transparency regarding the Afghanistan withdrawal.

Indeed, the Afghanistan withdrawal, while justified, was conducted in a haphazard manner. It’s a testament to the incompetence of the national security establishment which has endorsed a slew of imperial adventures abroad that put US troops at harm and the US’s credibility on the world stage at risk.

It’s high time that the US scale back its imperial presence abroad so as to avoid future embarrassments like the one it faced in Afghanistan.
