Dutch City is On Pace to Being First to Prohibit Most Meat Ads

The Dutch city of Haarlem is planning on prohibiting most meat advertisements from being posted on public spaces due to the food’s alleged climate impact.

At a glance, this city will be the first to ban such an ad, which is set to take place in 2024.

This initiative was initially put forward by GroenLinks — a green political party. The meat industry and free speech advocates have opposed this measure. The latter believes that this measure constitutes a violation of free speech.

The UN claims livestock generates more over 14% of all man-made greenhouse gases, which includes methane.

“Meat is very harmful to the environment. We cannot tell people that there is a climate crisis and encourage them to buy products that are part of it,” Ziggy Klazes, a GroenLinks councilor who crafted the motion, said to Dutch newspaper Trouw.

According to the BBC, the Haarlem city government has not officially decided whether sustainably produced meat will not be featured in the ad ban.

Several Members of Parliament from the Christian Democratic Challenge party supported this measure.

The proposal was also supported by MPs from the Christian Democratic Challenge party.

The meat industry has choice words for this ordinance.

“The authorities are going too far in telling people what’s best for them,” declared a spokesman from the Central Organization for the Meat Sector. The Belang van Nederland (Interest of the Netherlands) party declared that this measure was an “unacceptable violation of entrepreneurial freedom.”  The right-wing party added that it “would be fatal for pig farmers”.

“Banning commercials from politically born motives is almost dictatorial,” Haarlem BVNL councilor Joey Rademaker stated.

Herman Bröring, a law professor at the University of Groningen, believes the prohibition could transgress on the freedom of expression and compel wholesalers to file lawsuits against the city of Haarlem.

Per figures from Statistics Netherlands, 95% of Dutch people eat meat.

BBC noted that Amsterdam and The Hague have already banned ads for the aviation and fossil fuel sectors.

In light of the recent Dutch farmer protests, this measure by Haarlem makes sense. The Netherland’s current globalist government is consolidating its power and using the present economic unrest to justify massive power grabs on all facets of Dutch people’s lives.

Americans should be watching events taking place in the Old Continent with great interest. Europe is a testing ground for “war on meat” and the broader Great Reset agenda. Such experiences will give us an idea what to expect from the globalist ruling class once they start hatching ideas in the US.
