Thomas Massie Exposes the Hypocrisy of Ukrainian Flag Waving Liberals Calling for Gun Control in America

Cognitive dissonance is pervasive in American politics. The current Russo-Ukrainian War and the way liberals and neocons have responded to it has been breath-taking to say the least.

Liberals have been especially energetic in their pro-Ukraine virtue signaling with flags on their social media profiles and a constant push for escalation against Russia over its invasion of Ukraine.

One way liberals and their neocon counterparts have contributed to escalating tensions between Russia and the West is by pushing for increased military aid to Ukraine. The point of this aid is to have Ukraine fight Russia to the last Ukrainian and bleed it out.

Obviously, the best way to do that is by arming Ukrainians to the teeth. An armed resistance at least gives the invaded party a fighting chance against the invaders. Though in a conventional war against a superior power like Russia all this will do is prolong the inevitable and lead to more untold suffering.

Nevertheless, the logic of an armed populace still holds. It’s one the reasons why the Founding generation in the United States made it a point to consecrate the Second Amendment in the Constitution. They understood that an armed citizenry can keep a potentially tyrannical regime on its toes.

However, modern liberals don’t seem to grasp this and display some of the most egregious forms of cognitive dissonance by pushing for never-ending flows of firearms to Ukraine, while simultaneously calling for gun control at home.

Kentucky Congressman Thomas Massie brought this to his followers’ attention in a tweet he posted on May 27, 2022:

“Cognitive dissonance: Liberals with Ukrainian flags in their profiles tweeting that Americans shouldn’t be allowed to own modern firearms.”

Indeed, there’s a major disconnect here. However, there’s a broader political trend when one looks at the connection between those who proudly use a Ukrainian flag on their social media accounts and their support for gun control. While these are separate issues, maintaining support for arming Ukraine and backing gun control at home represents a globalist mindset.

For one, there’s no pressing American interest in arming and providing economic aid to Ukraine. It’s an America Last policy through and through. Plus, supporting gun control is one of the biggest insults to the Historic American Nation. It’s as much of a violation of fundamental liberties as it is an insult to American identity.

For globalists though, pursuing America Last policies and undermining traditional liberties are another day at the park.

It’s part and parcel of their post-national ethos.

As politics becomes more unstable, it’s up to liberty conservatives to be able to identify who are their enemies and who are their allies. One of the best ways to determine that is by looking at how people stand on the right to bear arms and interventionism abroad.

If individuals fail on both issues, they’re not your friends. It’s  best that we start drawing lines in the sand and figuring out who is on our side and who is against us.
