Russia Threatens to Break Diplomatic Ties with Israel if It Provides Military Aid to Ukraine

Russia has expressed its frustration with Israel over its rumored move to supply Ukraine with lethal military aid. According to Tyler Durden of ZeroHedge, Israel’s aid to Ukraine has only been humanitarian and non-lethal equipment thus far.
Interestingly, Israel has not complied with Ukraine’s calls for arms, which includes its renowned Iron Dome anti-air system.
Although there’s no evidence that the authorities in Israel have given the green light to sending defensive aid, there are several Israeli officials who are becoming increasingly hostile toward Russia due to its deepening relationship with Iran. There have been reports that Iran has supplied Russia with “kamikaze” drones in its military conflict with Ukraine.
New reports are indicating that Iran is sending ballistic missiles to Russia in an effort to replenish its war-time supplies. Due to Russia’s heightened defense ties with Iran, Israeli Diaspora Affairs Nacham Shai declared on Twitter on October 16, 2022, that the “time has come” for Israel to team up with the Collective West in sending arms to Ukraine.
“There is no longer any doubt where Israel should stand in this bloody conflict,” Shai stated. “The time has come for Ukraine to receive military aid as well, just as the U.S. and NATO countries provide.”
On October 17, the European Union’s High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell announced that his office is compiling evidence of Iran’s efforts to transfer drones to Russia, which has allegedly included hundreds of “Shahed” drone transfers. That same day multiple suicide drones attacked Kiev. The EU is likely going to consider imposing sanctions on Iran in light of this attack.
Israel and Iran have been bitter foes since the Islamic Revolution of 1979, which makes the former concerned with the latter’s increased cooperation with Russia.
As a response to Israel’s hints of sending weaponry to Ukraine, ex-Russian President Dmitry Medvedev sternly warned the Jewish state that the transfer of weapons to Ukraine would result in the destruction of Russo-Israeli relations.
“It seems Israel will supply weapons to the Kiev regime. A very reckless move. It will destroy all diplomatic relations between our countries,” Medvedev declared on Telegram.
Prime Minister Yair Lapid has been particularly vocal when it comes to Russia’s ramped up airstrikes against Ukraine.
“I strongly condemn the Russian attacks on the civilian population in Kyiv and other cities across Ukraine,” Lapid recently declared. “I send our sincere condolences to the families of the victims and the Ukrainian people.”
With Israel sharing a de facto border with Russia in Syria due to Russia’s military presence there, Israel must mind its Ps & Qs. Multipolarity, a geopolitical development in which the US no longer holds full-blown hegemony on the world stage, will undoubtedly force Israel to scale back its overly ambitious geopolitical ventures.
Many countries are beginning to receive rude awakenings as the unipolar moment is dead and new alliances and partnerships are being forged on the grounds of national interest and realism as opposed to the fanatic idealism that has consumed the Collective West.
