Thomas Massie Pushes for the Repeal of Gun-Free Zones in the Wake of the Uvalde Massacre

In the wake of the Uvalde, Texas massacre, in which a depraved gunman slaughtered 21 people at Robb Elementary School, Gun Control Inc. has instantly clamored for tougher gun control laws. That is to be expected.

However, on the Right, there hasn’t been much of a comprehensive response to solve the issue of mass shootings while still maintaining individual freedoms. The good news is that one member of Congress can always be counted on to stir the pot and offer a constructive alternative to the very real problems we face.

Kentucky Congressman Thomas Massie dropped major wisdom on Twitter, when he declaredWe should end so-called gun-free zones and allow sane adults to protect children from insane individuals.”

Then in another tweet, Massie reminded his followers that he introduced a bill that would repeal gun-free zones. He tweeted, “My bill, the ‘Safe Students Act’ H.R. 7415, would repeal the dangerous ‘Gun-Free School Zones Act of 1990.’

The ‘Safe Students Act’ would make it easier for state and local governments and school boards to unambiguously set their own firearms policies.

Massie introduced H.R. 7415 back on April 6, 2022. This would repeal the 1990 GFSZA, which then-Delaware Senator Joe Biden pushed for. The bill would later be signed into law by then-president George H.W. Bush.

The Kentucky Congressman’s bill would do more to protect schools than any additional gun control measures. The fact is that gun-free zones function as criminal safe spaces.  As long as these criminal safe spaces exist, more tragedies like the one in Uvalde will take place.

In sum, gun control kills.
