Effort to Recall Soros-Funded District Attorney George Gascón Fails

According to Jack Bradley of The Epoch Times, a drive to recall Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón to collect enough valid petition signatures failed.
The LA county registrar made this announcement on August 15, 2022.
The country Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk’s office recorded 520,050 valid signatures, which did not meet the required figure of 566,857.
In a statement he sent to The Epoch Times, recall spokesman Tim Lineberger described the results as “surprising and disappointing.” Lineberger added: “To deprive them [LA County residents who signed on to the recall] of the opportunity to restore public safety in their own communities is heartbreaking. And to interpret this in any other way other than a wholesale rejection of Gascon’s dangerous polices would be disingenuous, or naive at best.”
In July, recall organizers filed 715,833 signatures to the registrar’s office to initiate a recall election against Gascón. On August 15, 2022, the county announced that 195,783 of the signatures were allegedly invalid.
Over 88,000 signatures were invalidated due to the individuals signing the petition were not registered voters. Additionally, there were roughly 44,000 duplicate signatures, per the county.
Steve Cooley, a former LA county district attorney, sent a letter on August 8 to the Los Angeles Board of Supervisors, where he made the allegation that the registrar’s office did not go through proper guidelines when reviewing signatures for the campaign during a random sampling that took place in July.
Cooley claimed that one of the guidelines is guaranteeing that voters’ signatures on the recall petitions match their signatures currently on the registrar’s office files.
In addition, Cooley alleged that the recall campaign has “strong evidence” demonstrating that the office didn’t comply with state guidelines during the random sampling due to “the shockingly large rejection rate,” which hovered around 22%.
Gascón has been the center of controversy since he assumed the position of DA in 2020. His tenure as DA has been marked by a soft-on-crime approach to justice. Bradley noted that Gascón issued several soft-on-crime directives such as a “rule against seeking the death penalty, a ban on transferring juvenile defendants to adult court, and prohibitions on filing sentencing enhancements in most cases.”
Bradley added that “more than 30 cities in the county, including Torrance, Santa Clarita, Lancaster, and Beverly Hills, supported the recall, and more than a dozen passed votes of no confidence against Gascón for his policies.”
While Gascón appears to be in the clear for now, there is an anti-crime backlash brewing in cities like LA.
BLP reported on a successful recall effort against San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin that took place this past June. As America’s premier cities grow more violent, there will be organic anti-crime movements popping up.
While many blue cities are completely out of reach for the Right, recall initiatives and other electoral mechanisms to depose corrupt elected officials for their failure to stop crime are great ways for America First nationalists to acquire experience in political organization. Law & order still remains a popular campaign message.
