Texas Judge Struck Down Biden Regime’s Student Loan Forgiveness Plan

On November 10, 2022 a federal judge ruled that President Joe Biden’s plan to cancel hundreds of billions of dollars in student loan debt was illegal and must be reversed.

District Judge Mark Pittman, who former President Donald Trump previously appointed, made the decisive ruling. According to Tyler Durden of ZeroHedge, the lawsuit was originally put forward by the Job Creators Network Foundation on behalf of two borrowers.

In his ruling that was 26 pages long, Pittman declared that the HEROES Act — a law that gives loan assistance to members of the military and was used by the Biden regime to justify its student loan relief plan — did not give the Biden regime the authority to implement the $400 billion student loan forgiveness program.

“The Program is thus an unconstitutional exercise of Congress’s legislative power and must be vacated,” Pittman declared in a ruling.

The Biden student plan was previously blocked by 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals as it’s considering a request by 6 Republican-controlled states to pass an injunction against the debt plan while they appealed their own lawsuit’s dismissal.

Several Republican state attorneys general and related legal organizations had previously taken legal action against Biden’s student loan plan.

According to Congressional Budget Office figures published in September, the Biden regime’s debt forgiveness plan would eliminate about $430 billion of the $1.6 trillion in outstanding student debt. In addition, 40 million people were able to benefit from this loan relief plan.

The plan was first announced in August and calls for wiping out up to $10,000 in student loan debt for borrowers making below $125,000 annually, or $250,000 for married couples. Borrowers who received Pell Grants will have up to $20,000 of their debt canceled.

It’s good to see the Biden regime receive a black eye in this case. Undoubtedly, the Biden regime is rewarding one several of its client groups — upper-middle class voters and college graduates — and the expense of other constituencies. Patronage politics 101.

The Right must take notes here. It must reward its allies while punishing its enemies severely. Even if it means using state power to do so. It’s a dog-eat-dog world out here and at the end of the day, it’s better to be the hammer than the nail.
