Russian Official Says Ukraine’s Admission into NATO will Lead to World War 3

In a statement he made on October 13, 2022, Alexander Venediktov, the Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, declared that Ukraine’s potential ascension into NATO could kick off World War III.

During an interview with Russian state media outlet TASS, Venediktov said that NATO understands the ramifications of Ukraine joining the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.

Ukraine applying for an expedited path for NATO membership is “rather a propaganda move,” Venediktov declared. “Kiev is well aware that such a step would mean a guaranteed escalation to a World War Three.”

“Apparently, that’s what they are counting on—to create informational noise and draw attention to themselves once again,” Venediktov added.

“But given that many members of the Kiev regime are out of touch with reality, I wouldn’t be surprised if some people out there really expect their country to be admitted to NATO,” the national security official proclaimed.

Venediktov’s comments came following Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s statement earlier in October where he announced that Ukraine has applied for a fast-track membership for joining NATO.

Ukraine’s NATO application came right after Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the annexation of four Russian-speaking regions of Ukraine: Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson.

On October 14, Venediktov reiterated the long-held position that Russia has put forth about the Russo-Ukrainian conflict:

The Collective West is a direct party to this conflict based on the military aid that it has provided to Ukraine to stave off Russia’s military incursion.

“We are also aware that, despite statements about not being involved in the events in Ukraine, the real actions taken by Westerners show that they are a direct party to the conflict,” Venediktov stated.

Ukraine’s entry into NATO will “automatically give the West’s involvement [in the conflict] a new quality, the fifth article will come into effect,” he said, noting that NATO members comprehend the “suicidal nature” of directly incorporating Ukraine under its military umbrella.

On October 10, Katabella Roberts of The Epoch Times noted that President Joe Biden vowed to supply Ukraine with advanced air defense systems to help it stave off Russian attacks.

Overall, adding Ukraine into NATO would be an unmitigated disaster. Rational minds in DC should do everything possible to nix this kind of move.

If we want to prevent further Great Power tragedies like the Russo-Ukrainian conflict from ever occurring, America needs a new political elite — one that’s America First in orientation — for that to occur.
