Russia Accuses the United States Government of Trying to Destabilize Iran

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova accused the United States government of meddling in Iran’s internal politics.

In a statement she made on October 20, 2022 during a daily news briefing, Zakharova also noted that the US has lost interest in restoring the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), colloquially known as the Iran Nuclear Deal.

“We have received indications from Washington that point to the American side’s reluctance to resume talks on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action [JCPOA]. They have no interest in this process and intend to keep on supporting the anti-government activities in Iran,” Zakharova declared.

“Simply speaking, Washington is inciting riots there and brazenly meddles with the internal affairs of this country,” she added.

According to Zakharova, all this underscores once again the inability of the United States to act as a reliable partner that keeps its commitments.

“There is a desire to camouflage its own shortcomings and gaps in negotiating with Tehran, switching to its usual methods of pressure against unwanted parties and interfering into their domestic affairs,” the Russian diplomat noted.

Zakharova believes the US government’s recent moves are being conducted “for electoral reasons or due to other circumstances of its domestic political agenda.”

The Russian government is urging the US to rescind its recently imposed sanctions against Iran and to go back to the legal framework outlined by the Iran Nuclear Deal, per Zakharova’s statements.

“We are once again calling on Washington for an urgent and permanent cancellation of all previously imposed anti-Iranian sanctions and for an immediate return to the JCPOA legal framework and the [UN Security Council] Resolution 2231,” the Russian diplomat highlighted.

Zakharova emphasized how the Collective West is taking belligerent actions against both Iran and Russia. This is most notable with the recent set of sanctions that the European Union has imposed on Iran that would be directed “against those guilty of human rights violations” in the Middle Eastern country.

“If you are so concerned with human rights protection in Iran, I would like to remind you that Tehran never ordered its people to cut on [water] taking a bath or shower, resort to alternative heating sources or save on electricity supplies,” she observed.

“At the same time, the European Union is grossly violating the primary basic right to individual hygiene,” Zakharova added. “This is why you should take a closer look at what is going on with you before starting to point a finger at Iran.”

Russia and Iran are natural strategic partners in a world order that is dominated by woke universalist countries in the West. These two Eurasian players share similar enemies and are not fond of the West’s moralistic foreign policy that consists of imposing its values worldwide.

As the Collective West grows more fanatic, the Russo-Iranian partnership will grow stronger in nature as the center of world geopolitics shifts more towards Eurasia.
