Thomas Massie’s Safe Students Act, Not Gun Control Would Keep Schools State

The Uvalde, Texas shooting has naturally been politicized by the ruling class. The powers that be ultimately want some form of civilian disarmament scheme to be implemented in the wake of this atrocity.

Never mind that schools are gun-free zones, as a product of the 1990 Gun-Free School Zones Act, which makes them easy targets for deranged maniacs who lust for a nasty kill count. Kentucky Congressman Thomas Massie previously stepped up to the plate to offer a solution to this problem, which recently reared its ugly head in Uvalde.

On April 6 , 2022, Thomas Massie introduced the “Safe Students Act”, which would repeal the GFSZA. In its present form, the GFSZA prohibits individuals from knowingly carrying firearms in a school zone. The SSA was originally introduced by former Texas Congressman Ron Paul.

“Gun-free zones are ineffective and make our schools less safe. Since 1950, 98 percent of mass public shootings have occurred in places where citizens are banned from having guns,” Massie declared in a press release disseminated on April 7.  “Banks, churches, sports stadiums, and many of my colleagues in Congress are protected with firearms. Yet children inside the classroom are too frequently left vulnerable.”

Massie tweeted on May 30, 2022, “My ‘Safe Students Act’ would make it easier for state and local governments and school boards to unambiguously set their own firearms policies. Thomas Massie Proposes Bill To Repeal ‘Gun-Free School Zones Act’ | The Daily Wire”

He added that “This bill already has 17 cosponsors. Let’s pass this bill because it will actually prevent and stop the evil men who target our school children.”

The co-sponsors included the following representatives:

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO)

Rep.  Andy Biggs (R-AZ)

Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL)

Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-GA)

Rep. James Comer (R-KY)

Rep. Jeff Duncan (R-SC)

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL)

Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX)

Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ)

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA)

Rep. Jody Hice (R-GA)

Rep. Doug LaMalfa (R-CA)

Rep. Tom McClintock (R-CA)

Rep. Alexander Mooney (R-WV)

Rep. Matt Rosendale (R-MT)

Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX)

Rep. Mary Miller (R-IL)

According to research from the Crime Prevention Research Center, 94% of mass shootings from 1950 to 2022 have taken place in gun-free zones. If the GFSZA continues to stay in effect, more mass shootings will take place in these criminal safe spaces.

For the sake of protecting our children, we need to repeal GFSZA and let schools and municipalities set up their own security policies.
