Thomas Massie Stands Against Red Flag Gun Confiscation Orders

Kentucky Congressman Thomas Massie let his voice be heard on June 9, 2022 when he stood in opposition to HR 2377, a national red flag bill. Red flag gun confiscation orders have recently become the go-to legislation for Gun Control Inc to pass.

This kind of legislation would allow for judges to issue firearms confiscation orders against individuals who are deemed as a threat to themselves or others. This is all done without due process.

Massie understands what’s at stake.  He tweeted, “A federal red flag law would create millions of second-class citizens. It won’t stop mass shooters but will deprive millions of Americans of due process and their Second Amendment rights.”

Unfortunately, HR was passed on a 224 to 202 vote in the House. It will now be heading to the Senate, where it will likely face stiff resistance from the likes of Kentucky Senator Rand Paul who can use the filibuster to delay the passage of said legislation.

Since the Buffalo, New York and  Uvalde, Texas shootings, Massie has not fallen for the siren song of gun control. Moreover, Massie has doubled down in his promotion of the Safe Students Act, a bill that would repeal gun-free zones and allow schools and municipalities to craft their own security policies.

Massie’s work is admirable, but he will ultimately need more colleagues with his beliefs to join him in Congress. The best place right-wing populists can start building this new coalition is by taking advantage of the midterms to start embedding more pro-freedom elected officials in both chambers of Congress.
