Thomas Massie Calls on Republicans to Drastically Limit The Power of DOJ and FBI

The FBI’s raid of Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence earlier this week served as a major wake up call to conservatives nationwide. The politics that people saw on Schoolhouse Rock! is no longer present in the US. We have entered a political environment where the friend/enemy distinction is the order of the day. 

Not recognizing this will lead to political death for many elected officials on the ostensive Right. 

Thankfully, Kentucky Congressman Thomas Massie is rising to the occasion and calling for Republicans to confront the Deep State. 

In a tweet he posted on August 10, 2022, Massie stated, “The Biden administration has crossed a line. We can’t wait 2 more years to correct it. After the 2022 elections, Congress must use the power of the purse to rein in the DOJ and FBI. Any Republican who tells you that’s not possible is too addicted to big government to fix this.”

 

 

This is the type of mindset that Republicans must have when dealing with pernicious institutions like the FBI. The only “centrist” ways of dealing with these institutions is to defund or defang them of their power through mass firings and installation of America First loyalists in these agencies. From there, the conversation can be shifted towards eventually abolishing the FBI. 

First things first, Republicans must stop treating these institutions  like normal agencies and begin confronting them. We can no longer afford to allow these agencies to continue behaving in a manner that undermines our Republic and punishes right-wing constituencies.
