Downtown Baltimore Film Production of “Lady in the Lake” is Stopped After Drug Dealers Threaten to Extort and Shoot Producers

On August 26, 2022, production for the TV series “Lady in the Lake” was stopped after drug dealers made threats to shoot an individual at the downtown Baltimore film set and attempted to extort film producers for money, per a report by the Baltimore Banner.
Production came to a screeching halt after “locals threatened the producers of the movie that if they didn’t cease production, they would come back later . . . and shoot someone,” a Baltimore Police Department spokesperson informed WJZ.
“The locals then told the producers that if they paid them, they would allow the production to continue,” a department spokesperson revealed.
The spokesperson was unaware of “the dollar amount” that the “the locals” demanded the producers cough up.
Per a report by the Baltimore Banner, drug dealers tried to extort $50,000 from the film crew and the producers refused to give in to the drug dealers’ demands.
“The leaders of the production decided to err on the side of caution and reschedule the shoot after they found another location,” the department spokesperson continued.
“Lady in the Lake” is a television series that is expected to premiere on Apple TV+. The TV series is based on the best-selling author Laura Lippman’s novel of the same name.
The series features Academy Award winner Natalie Portman, who has starred in the Star Wars prequel trilogy, V for Vendetta, and the Thor series.
According to a Maryland Economic Development Association statement, the producers of “Lady in the Lake” will continue filming “throughout the Baltimore region until October.”
“‘Lady in the Lake’ takes place in 1960s Baltimore, where an unsolved murder pushes a housewife and mother to reinvent herself as an investigative journalist and sets her on a collision course with a hard-working woman juggling motherhood, many jobs, and a passionate commitment to advancing Baltimore’s Black progressive agenda,” the statement outlined.
This incident in Baltimore will become a normal occurrence in urban centers nationwide as the country becomes more diverse (non-white) and politicians treat law and order like a complete afterthought. A city that was once home to the great H.L. Mencken has now become a cesspool that increasingly resembles Haiti day by day.
That’s what happens when you allow multiculturalism to take root in academic, business, and political affairs.
