Gun Owners of America and Gun Owners of Foundation Obtained Injunction Against Anti-Second Amendment Winchester, Virginia Regulation

On September 27, 2022, Gun Owners of America (GOA) and Gun Owner Foundation (GOF) obtained a preliminary injunction against a Winchester, Virginia regulation that bans the carry, the possession, and the transportation of firearms at public areas where approved demonstrations are taking place and at public parks.

Erich Pratt, GOA’s Senior Vice President, made the following statement:

We appreciate Judge Eldridge’s move to enjoin much of this unconstitutional ordinance, and we are confident that we will succeed in fully dismantling this law at trial. This is just another example of the positive effect that the Bruen decision is having in pushing back on the anti-gun policies of local, state, and federal governments.

This GOA victory will help it with many legal challenges in future that deal with firearm prohibitions in public parks and other public areas in Virginia.

Despite the victory GOA and GOF were able to pull off, the Circuit Court Judge did not enjoin the part of the regulation that banned firearms in government-run recreation facilities or community centers.

Ever since it was founded in 1976, GOA has been one of the premier no compromise Second Amendment organizations in the United States. GOA can always be counted on to defend gun rights at all levels of government.

In addition, it’s willing to take the gun control regulatory state  head-on and call for full-measures such as reducing the power, if not totally abolishing, pro-gun control agencies.

In the fight to restore the right to bear arms, GOA will figure prominently as a vanguard actor.
